The Singida Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (SUWASA) has caught two suspects involved in the theft of water meters, identified as Faraja Abel and Ayubu Shabani.

The suspects were caught at Minga area, Arusha Road neighborhood, found with one damaged water meter.

SUWASA received information from concerned citizens, in collaboration with the police, they went to the scene and apprehended the suspects.

The suspects have been taken to the main police station in Singida Municipality for further investigation regarding the significant damage to infrastructure.

According to the Water Supply and Sanitation Act of 2019, penalties for damaging water infrastructure include a fine of up to 50 million Tanzanian shillings or imprisonment for up to five years.

SUWASA warns everyone involved in damaging public property to stop immediately, as strict measures will be taken against offenders.
